Green Bay Packers QB Aaron Rodgers Reportedly Tells Organization Members He Wants to Leave Team

by Evan Reier

After an offseason featuring a guest host stint on Jeopardy! and a new relationship, Aaron Rodgers may be shaking things up even further.

Thursday afternoon, just hours before the 2021 NFL Draft, ESPN reporter Adam Schefter dropped a bombshell on the NFL universe. According to his sources, Aaron Rodgers wants out of Green Bay.

“Reigning MVP Aaron Rodgers is so disgruntled with the Green Bay Packers that he has told some within the organization that he does not want to return to the team, league and team sources told ESPN on Thursday.” Schefter wrote.

While much of the fan and media focus of the draft has been on the quarterbacks being selected, this may change things entirely. The prospect of the reigning MVP and one-time Super Bowl champ being on the market is an earth-shattering announcement with just hours until the draft’s start.

However, as sensational as a blockbuster trade during the draft would be, there’s several hurdles to hop. Aaron Rodgers may want out, but that doesn’t necessarily mean he’ll get it.

Green Bay Packers are Committed to Aaron Rodgers

The primary issue for Aaron Rodgers is that his team doesn’t want to let him go. That shouldn’t come as a surprise, but it only adds to the drama.

In his follow-up story, Schefter got word from Green Bay Packers general manager on his issues.

“As we’ve stated since the season ended, we are committed to Aaron in 2021 and beyond,” Gutekunst told ESPN. “Aaron has been a vital part of our success and we look forward to competing for another championship with him leading our team.”

Per the story, Rodgers is unhappy about the Packers not clueing him in on their selection of a QB in last year’s draft, Jordan Love. Schefter also mentions his engagement to Shailene Woodley as well as his desire to host Jeopardy! full time.
