Green Bay Packers QB Aaron Rodgers Throws Three First-Half Touchdowns, Fans Go Insane

by Suzanne Halliburton

If you’re a Green Bay Packers fan, you’re worshipping Aaron Rodgers right now.

Rodgers, the Packers quarterback, threw three touchdown passes Sunday night. And to make his performance even more enjoyable, Rodgers did this against arch-nemesis Chicago. Extra points for throwing a trio of TDs on prime time.

Just How Good Were Those Aaron Rodgers Numbers?

In fact, Rodgers was so dominant he had as many touchdown passes as incompletions. That’s a sweet stat.

One network noted Rodgers consistency.

NFL Research put Rodgers first-half numbers into context. This is the fourth time this season Rodgers accomplished three early touchdowns. No other quarterback in the league has done it more than twice.

Chicago defensive coordinator anticipated what was coming before the game. He’s had some success against Rodgers. But it didn’t matter, given the halftime score.

“His football intelligence and his IQ, and he’s such a bright guy and so cerebral — it’s just too easy,’’ Pagano said. ‘‘He just toys with you. He stands back there, and he spends all day behind the center, and he’s moving guys around to get man/zone tells — he knows what the hell you’re going to be in. He finds the matchup he wants, then he exploits it.”

Torrey Smith, a former NFL receiver who won two Super Bowls, tweeted that Rodgers was a better player than Tom Brady. It was an interesting thought, given that Smith described Brady as the GOAT (greatest of all time).

“Tom Brady is the GOAT but Aaron Rodgers is a better player. I know it doesn’t make any sense, but it’s true,” he said in the tweet.

There was the fan who mocked the officiating by evoking Rodgers.

There were plenty of fans showing their appreciation of Rodgers skills by hating him on Twitter.

One Bears fans said: “All I want for Christmas is a Bears team that can beat Aaron Rodgers.”

Another was envisioning Rodgers’ retirement.

Or, how about this one: “I want to punt Aaron Rodgers to the moon. Double doink him on the way.”

Rodgers tossed the touchdowns to Davante Adams, Allen Lazard and Marcedes Lewis.

His first-half statistics weren’t that spectacular. After all, he threw for only 128 yards.

But it was all about the touchdowns as Green Bay built a 27-3 cushion by halftime.

Plus, Rodgers wins. NFL analyst Trey Wingo mentioned Rodgers prime time victories. “Apparently, Aaron Rodgers loves the spotlight.”
