Hulk Hogan‘s daughter Brooke opened up about his current health and past scares.
In an interview with Hollywood Raw, Brooke revealed that the WWE legend had 25 surgeries over the last decade. As of now, he is feeling good and his most recent surgery has seemed to help him.
“We counted how many surgeries he’s had in the last 10 years and I think we’re at 25,” she said per Wrestling Inc. “He’s had both shoulders scoped and he had his whole bicep and his bursa sac and everything tied up in his shoulder last year. That was a disaster.”
That surgery caused him to contract MRSA, with an easily contractible virus. This left Hulk Hogan needing to rehabilitate himself to be able to function once again.
“So we had to go back and undo tons of physical therapy,” she added. Over the years he has gotten his knees replaced twice on both, hips done, and an elbow scope.
Last month, Hulk was seen by Wrestling Attitude at an event. The outlet reported that he was having trouble moving from his back surgeries.
Brooke and Hulk Hogan credit this last surgery as the “winning ticket”. Brooke said that “he’s feeling great.” Brooke revealed that her father currently works out two hours every day in the gym and is “chugging along.”
Hulk Hogan and Randy Savage
Along with speaking about his current health, Brooke discussed Hulk Hogan and Randy Savage’s relationship. She described Savage as a “really such a great person.”
Hulk Hogan and Randy Savage made headlines in 1985 and 1986 for feuding over the famous WWE title and Intercontinental title. The pair met through World Wrestling Entertainment and became lasting friends.
“So when my parents were going on date nights, they’d leave us kids with him and Liz,” she recalled. “And I would like brush his hair with, you know how Barbie dolls would come with little pink plastic brush? I would brush his hair.”
Savage passed away in 2011 after suffering a heart attack and crashing his car into a tree. Brooke said that he is gone too soon.
“He and my dad had just seen each other and made amends or whatever,” she confessed.
They apparently were in a “little hiccup” following Randy and Liz’s breakup and her parents “got caught in the middle” of it.
“[They were just like] ‘We don’t know what to do at this point.’ And my dad and Randy were such good friends,” she continued. To this day, when Hulk Hogan thinks about his friend it upsets him and is emotional to remember.
“He’s such a great guy, but just so nice and so friendly and so funny and just gentle and just sweet,” she concluded.
