Jake Paul Calls Himself a Showtime ‘King’ After Landing New Boxing Deal

Jake Paul is the new self-proclaimed Showtime king. The YouTuber turned boxer reportedly just landed a big step forward in his fighting career.

According to ESPN, Paul struck a deal with Showtime Sports to distribute his next fight. It’s a crucial next step for the personality in establishing himself as a legitimate fighter and a threat in the industry. Showtime has also hosted fights for Floyd Mayweather, Gervonta Davis, and Manny Pacquiao. Reportedly, the deal is for more than just one fight.

Paul was quick to celebrate the achievement on Twitter. He declared himself a “king” and that he would get paid like a “king” as well.

“In the media business, they say content is king… and in the fight business, fighters are the content…so WE are the kings make sure you are getting paid like a king! New fight announcement coming soon…,” Paul wrote in a tweet.

Jake Paul Makes Step Forward in Boxing Career

Jake Paul and his brother Logan have been polarizing but entertaining figures in the boxing industry. They’ve turned their media influences into big draws for the sport. After all, Logan Paul managed to land a fight against the undefeated champion Floyd Mayweather. No small feat even if many see it as a publicity stunt.

So far, Jake Paul has been the more successful of the two brothers in the industry. He currently holds a 3-0 record in his fights. But it can be argued he hasn’t taken on a serious contender yet in his fights. Paul’s first win cam against fellow YouTuber AnEsonGib in January 2020.

He followed that fight up by taking on former NBA player Nate Robinson in November 2020. That fight resulted in a knockout. He more recently beat UFC veteran Ben Askren in a TKO during the match’s first round. Previously, Paul fought for Triller Fight Club, but the two appear to have parted ways now.

“Jake is proud of the events he participated in with Triller and appreciates the opportunities they afforded him,” Paul’s adviser Nakisa Bidarian told ESPN. “Jake is excited to continue his boxing career with Showtime Boxing. Fight announcement coming soon.”

Paul certainly knows how to ruffle feathers. Particularly, Floyd Mayweather that is. Paul and the boxing champ got in an altercation recently at a media event. Paul stole Mayweather’s hat and tried to flee with the headwear, saying “Gotcha Hat.” As a result, Mayweather and Paul got in a scuffle. The YouTuber got a black eye and a broken tooth for his trouble.
