Jake Paul Pledges $10 Million to World Hunger if Elon Musk Donates $6 Billion

Internet celebrity-turned-boxer Jake Paul decided to back billionaire Elon Musk’s $6 billion proposal over world hunger with one of his own for $10 million.

Man, isn’t it great to have that much money?

Business Insider reported on Paul’s tweet recently.

Some websites say Paul is reportedly worth $20 million, and he’s a pretty good money spender. So by giving up half of his fortune, would that encourage a billionaire to put his money where his mouth is?

Maybe.

Paul Latching On To Musk?

Elon Musk recently fired off a tweet in response to a United Nations report that $6 billion could end world hunger.

The man, worth some $300 billion, put some conditions on the donation. He said he wanted to see how and where that money would go.

Last week, UN World Food Programme Director David Beasley said that a $6 billion donation could help 42 million starving people. Musk took an interest in the claim, and Beasley offered to fly and meet Musk to discuss his request in a Tweet.

Not to bore you, but Beasley said on Wednesday that the World Food Program’s financial statements are an “open book.”

Musk offered to sell his Tesla stock, hot off the news that he made billions in a company deal with rental car company Hertz.

Paul’s millions came with a caveat. Basically, the boxer said he’d have to get 690,000 tweets from folks to send his donation. Paul posted his Tweet on Nov. 1, and by late afternoon on Wednesday, the post had a little over 26,000 retweets.

Paul The Spender

Even though Jake Paul is fulfilling a boxing need, the YouTube internet star is making a huge chunk of cash through sponsorship deals, marketing, and merchandising business. Reportedly, he’s got 20 million YouTube subscribers.

Paul owns several high-end cars, including a Rolls-Royce Phantom. He’s got one of Musk’s Tesla Model X cars. Before moving to Miami to train as a boxer, Paul bought a $6.9 million Calabasas, Calif. mansion that comes with eight bedrooms, a swimming pool, and a 26-car garage.

But he’s also helped out with some good charities. He’s worked with the Make a Wish Foundation and helped with Hurricane Harvey relief efforts in 2017.

A Jake Paul Rival Wants Help?

When Paul made his Twitter post, another social media star named Mr. Beast reached out for the money. He said if Musk doesn’t give them money, Paul should help out Team Seas.

James Donaldson could be considered a Jake Paul rival. On YouTube, at least.

Mr. Beast has 127.7 million combined subscribers with 17.8 billion views on YouTube.

Donaldson’s charity is Team Seas, and it’s a global campaign. The charity hopes to raise $30M to remove 30 million pounds of plastic and trash from our ocean, rivers, and beaches.

Maybe that’s worth a retweet.
