After months of jawing back and forth, YouTuber Jake Paul and former MMA champion Ben Askren are finally stepping into a boxing ring later tonight.

The highly-anticipated bout between the two fighters is just hours away at this point. This will only be Paul’s third fight after knocking out his two previous opponents. However, neither of his previous matchups were against professional fighters. This will be Paul’s first true test in the ring.

As for Askren, this is somewhat new territory for him as well. Although he has plenty of wrestling and fighting experience, it will be his first bout as solely a boxer. The 36-year-old is a former college wrestling champion who later held welterweight titles in both Bellator and ONE fighting championships. After one year with the UFC, Askren retired in 2019. But he came out of retirement to “beat up a YouTube star” after Paul called him out on social media.

“You’re telling me you’re gonna pay me a whole bunch of money to beat up a YouTube star?” Askren commented in December. “Like, I don’t know, that just sounds like a fun Friday night to me.”

The war of words has continued ever since, with Paul continuously trying to get under Askren’s skin. The internet personality has compared Askren’s appearance to the title character in Napoleon Dynamite. He’s repeatedly brought up the MMA fighter’s wife. Additionally, he most recently made fun of Askren’s physique during weigh-ins, saying the fighter has a “beer belly.”

All verbal jabs aside, the two men will now come to blows on Saturday night. Here’s how and when to tune in to the big fight.
