NFL superstar Aaron Rodgers is enjoying his tenure as the guest host of the hit quiz show Jeopardy!
The Green Bay Packers quarterback began his stint as the show’s host earlier this week on Monday. He is now two episodes into his Jeopardy! tenure with another coming later this evening (Wednesday).
He will wrap up his run as guest host next Friday and will give way to CNN’s Anderson Cooper, who will also get two weeks. Though he is only two episodes into he is Jeopardy! hosting reign, Rodgers is already receiving positive reviews for his performance.
Rodgers isn’t shy about expressing his desire for the full-time Jeopardy! hosting gig. The game show has been without a permanent host since the passing of the legendary Alex Trebek. In his absence, Jeopardy! producers are turning to celebrities, like Rodgers, to keep the show moving forward.
So, why would the reigning NFL MVP want the permanent hosting position on Jeopardy!? Well, it certainly isn’t for the money as Rodgers has plenty of that as one of the NFL’s highest-paid players.
According to Celebrity Net Worth, The quarterback has a net worth of $120 million and a yearly base salary of $20 million. Those numbers do not include various bonuses Rodgers is likely to get. The future NFL Hall of Famer also receives a considerable amount of money from his numerous endorsement deals.
The website reports that between June 2018 and June 2019, he earned $90 million from salary and endorsements. Not a bad chunk of change for a year’s worth of work. Among his many advertising and endorsement deals is State Farm Insurance, where he’s known for promoting the “discount double-check.”
Despite his career earnings, Rodgers has his eyes set on the Jeopardy! hosting prize. He says he believes he can host the long-running game show and still quarterback his championship-caliber football team. It may be a lofty dream but no one should bet against Aaron Rodgers and his commitment.
With his tenure as Jeopardy! guest host wrapping up soon, Rodgers will begin turning his attention to the approaching 2021 NFL season. The Packers narrowly missed a trip to the Super Bowl last season and will have plenty of motivation for the upcoming football season.
