Joe Montana Docuseries Releases Trailer Ahead of January Premiere on Peacock: VIDEO

Over the weekend, video streaming service Peacock released a new trailer for the upcoming docuseries Joe Montana: Cool Under Pressure. 

According to Peacock, Joe Montana; Cool Under Pressure features stories about the football legend that many people don’t know. This includes stories about doubting coaches, team controversies, and Montana’s own insecurities. 

The film’s synopsis states, “Quarterback Joe Montana had many accomplishments over his football life. He won a National Championship at Notre Dame. He was undefeated in four Super Bowls and was named Super Bowl MVP three times. But what truly defined Montana was the simple fact that he was cool under pressure.”

Peacock also reported that the 6-part Joe Montana: Cool Under Pressure will also feature exclusive footage as well as interviews from many NFL and sports personalities. This includes Tom Brady, Jerry Rice, Steve Young, George Seifert, Ed Debartolo, Peyton Manning, Magic Johnson, and Ken Griffey Jr.

Joe Montana also starred as a quarterback in the NFL for 16 seasons. The legendary football player notably spent the majority of his professional career with the San Francisco 49ers. He began his NFL career in 1979 in San Francisco after winning the NCAA college football national championship at Notre Dame. 

During his time with the 49ers, Joe Montana started and won four Super Bowls. He is also the first player to ever be the Super Bowl MVP three times. After 14 years, Montana was traded to the Kansas City Chiefs and led the team to its first AFC Championship Game in January 1994. Meanwhile, years after retiring, Montana was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2000. 

Joe Montana Opens Up About His Favorite Super Bowl Memory 

During a February 2021 interview with Popculture, Joe Montana opened up about his favorite Super Bowl memory. He talks about the pass to John Taylor to win Super Bowl XXIII, Super Bowl XXIII. “As a quarterback, I did that so many times in my backyard with my neighbor growing up. Except I used to make him dive for the ball just for the excitement.”

Montana also discussed throwing the winning touchdown passes for the next Super Bowl games also was memorable. “We just had a great game after we got it all settled out the first-part jitters out of the way. We ended up blowing out Denver and found out the hard way you don’t want to do that. Because you get taken out of the game early.”

Joe Montana: Cool Under Pressure will premiere on the streaming service on January 6th with two episodes. The series will then premiere weekly. Montana will also participate in the series. The Hollywood Reporter previously shared that NFL Films is producing the series for Peacock.
