After last night’s blowout loss to the Cleveland Browns on Wild Card Weekend, all eyes are on Juju Smith-Schuster. The Pittsburg Steelers stat wide receiver has made a name for himself with his off the field antics. Ahead of this match-up,. Smith-Schuster made comments about the Browns’ team.
“I think they’re still the same Browns that I’ve played every year,” Smith-Schuster said. “I think they’re nameless gray faces. They have a couple of good players on their team. But at the end of the day, the Browns is the Browns.”
Many Browns players claimed that these comments acted as motivation in their 48-37 victory over the Steelers. Following the loss, Juju Smith-Schuster released a comment with his feelings about the loss and the Steelers’ season.
“It’s a blessing to be here, and as always, I have to thank God for allowing me to be in this position,” Smith-Schuster said in his comment. “Anytime you end your season short of a championship, from Pop Warner up until the NFL, it always stings so this is no different. We deserved this L, and just were nowhere close to what we needed to be. The grind continues.”
While Smith-Schuster failed to apologize for his comments, he did admit that the team did not have what it needed this year. He expressed his appreciation and gratitude to be a part of the team and the Steeler fan base. Only time will tell if he learned his lesson off the field, but we can definitely expect to see more work on the field next year.
Juju Smith-Schuster Tik Tok
During the regular season, he formed a habit of making Tik Tok dance videos. On many occasions, he would film these videos dancing on the opposite teams’ logos in the pregame. These videos began to bite him back after their first loss in week 15 of the regular season to the Washington Football Team.
Many players for opposing teams cited the videos as motivation in the games. This includes the Cincinnatti Bengals who beat the 11-2 Pittsburgh Steelers by two scores despite their 2-10-1 record. While at first Smith-Schuster claimed that he would not stop dancing on the other team’s logos. After yet another loss, Head Coach Mike Tomlin approached him about the dances and he eventually stopped.
