LeBron James Breaks Out the Chalk Toss in First Visit to Cleveland in Over Two Years

LeBron James is back in Cleveland, Ohio for the first time in over two years. Since he left, a lot has changed in Cleveland. So much has changed since then that only three players remain from when Lebron played with them.

LeBron James certainly left his mark on the city. In 2016, he led the Cavaliers to the city’s only NBA Championship title. Not only did it mean a lot to him, but it also gave the city a renewed vigor for basketball. It was a glorious sight to see James return to the Cavaliers before winning that championship.

Even though there are some Cavaliers fans out there who are still bitter that LeBron James left, others are still happy for what he did. In his return to Cleveland tonight, James did his signature move, the chalk toss.

LeBron would do this during almost every single pregame warmup while he was wearing a Cleveland Cavaliers jersey. So, for a lot of the fans watching it was an awesome, nostalgic throwback. He even caps the ritual with his signature claps and blowing on his hands afterward.

LeBron James Returns to Cleveland

LeBron James was an icon for the city of Cleveland and he did his absolute best to live up to the standards that were set. In fact, Cleveland hung up a massive banner for him on the side of the Sherwin Williams building. The street is in plain view for a lot of people.

The 25,000 square foot Nike banner hung there for 13 years, from 2005 to 2018. Undoubtedly the banner has helped inspire thousands of kids to reach for their goals.

During the game, LeBron has been playing like an MVP candidate. The 13-4 Lakers are leaning heavily on their superstar, and he is providing. With a full quarter left in the game, he has 25 points in 25 minutes. He also has seven rebounds and four assists.

However, the homecoming to Cleveland might be getting spoiled. The Cavaliers are leading the Lakers by two points, but again, the fourth quarter remains and anything can happen.
