LeBron James’ daughter is wearing a jersey to represent her favorite Los Angeles Lakers player. It’s not the number 23 from her dad’s jersey, though.

At the ring ceremony, Zhuri is seen sporting the number 3, the jersey worn by Lakers superstar Anthony Davis.

The Lakers won the 2020 NBA Championship back in October and on Tuesday received their rings on opening night of the 2020-2021 season.

LeBron James Celebrates Virtually with Family

Without the usual 20,000 fans filling up to stadium, the Lakers found new ways to make the ceremony personable.

“Let me speak directly to Lakers fans: we miss you so much. The team misses you. But someday soon we’ll be together. When we are together, we’ll have something special to celebrate. Until then, we have some rings to give out,” Lakers governor Jeanie Buss said according to USA Today.

LeBron James was given a special moment during the ring ceremony. A video was played of his family and his I Promise students as he collected his fourth ring. He even put his mom on Facetime so she could experience the epic moment in real time.

When James put the ring on, he pointed right up to the sky. While it could’ve been for a number of reasons, many NBA fans believe it was likely a shoutout to Kobe Bryant, who passed away in a plane crash earlier this year.

A Look into the Lakers’ Ring

Jason of Beverly Hills made the rings. Each ring is .95 carats of amethyst. This is meant to represent the grueling 95 days the Lakers spent at the NBA Disney campus.

The top of the ring comes off to showcase Bryant’s retired jersey number. The ring has 17 trophies on it, since the Lakers are tied with the Boston Celtics for most NBA titles in hisory.

They are the most expensive NBA championship rings ever.

According to ESPN, the ring is also has a nod to the social justice movement. The word “unity” is etched into the ring. The NBA as a whole made a concerted effort to call attention to social issues in the 2020 season.

The phrase “Leave a Legacy” is in LeBron James’ handwriting on each ring.

While the Lakers were the 2019-2020 NBA champions, the new season just started. Unfortunately for the team on Tuesday, they lost to the Los Angeles Clippers 109-116.

The Lakers will play the Dallas Mavericks on Dec. 25 at 5 p.m. PT at home.
