Earlier today, Golden State Warriors’ Guard, Klay Thompson, left the gym with a lower leg injury. Sources claim he could not put weight on his leg. He will undergo tests to determine the severity of the injury. Many athletes and celebrities, including Lakers star LeBron James, have taken to Twitter to send love to the three-time NBA champion.

“Praying a lot [that] Klay Thompson is cool,” LeBron Tweeted. “Like its super minor.”

Klay Thompson’s recent career has been riddled with injuries over the past few years. He is currently recovering from a torn ACL, which makes this lower leg injury even scarier. While nothing yet indicates that the injury is serious, the fact that he could not bear weight on the leg is quite worrisome. Some sources believe it is a heel injury, which could indicate a torn Achilles. A torn Achilles would result in another season missed for Klay Thompson.

Last year, the Warriors finished with the worst record in their recent history. At 15 wins and 50 losses, the Warriors finished in last place in the Western Conference. A big part of this abysmal season could be attributed to Thompson’s injury and another injury to Steph Curry, the second half of the ‘Splash Brothers’ tandem.

Klay Thompson’s 2019 Injury

In Game 6 of the 2019 NBA Finals, Klay Thompson exited the game in the third quarter following an awkward landing after a dunk. A later MRI revealed that he tore his ACL. Before heading for the tunnel, Thompson limped to the free-throw line to shoot free throws. The sharpshooter nailed them both.

The Golden State Warriors ended up losing the NBA Finals to the Toronto Raptors in Game 7. Klay Thompson has been recovering from the injury, rehabbing and working hard to get back to game shape. LeBron is not alone in hoping the best for the five-time NBA All-Star.
