NBA superstar LeBron James never had any doubt that the Kansas City Chiefs were going to pull out the clutch win against the Las Vegas Raiders.
This week’s Sunday Night Football matchup was a shootout from start to finish. Star quarterback Patrick Mahomes led the Kansas City Chiefs in an offensive showcase that saw both he and the Raiders’ Derek Carr light up the scoreboard and stat sheet.
It was very nearly a flawless outing from Carr and a balanced Raiders offense. However, in the end, it was Mahomes and the visiting Chiefs who got the last laugh, avenging an earlier season loss to their AFC West rivals. The Chiefs won on Sunday night by a score of 35-31 to improve to 9-1 atop the division.
Mahomes and the explosive Kansas City offense needed just over a minute to erase a late Raiders lead. It turned out to by light work for Mahomes. He marched his team 75 yards on seven plays in 1:15 to get the go-ahead touchdown and send their divisional rivals to 6-4.
Lebron James says there was no doubt in his mind that Kansas City was going to go down and score the game-winning touchdown.
“I mean was there any doubt on that drive!?!?! No there wasn’t. @PatrickMahomes Insano!” James wrote on Twitter.
Patrick Mahomes Responds to Lebron James
With the game was on the line, Mahomes’ performance was simply spectacular. He got the ball at his own 25 with 1:43 remaining. The Chiefs were trailing by three points. All Mahomes needed was to put the team in a position to kick a field goal, tie the game and force overtime.
However, Mahomes didn’t want to settle. The Chiefs would go on to win the game on a 22-yard pass to tight end Travis Kelce. Mahomes made the pass while he was being chased down.
“You know you’re always in it,” Kelce said of his quarterback after the game. “And that’s the biggest thing. You know you can go out there and create energy.”
Mahomes even took time to respond to LeBron’s comments after the game.
“Appreciate you my brother!” Mahomes replied to James.
The Chiefs, now 9-1, will continue their road trip in Week 12 when they visit the Tampa Bay Buccaneers who are 7-3. Las Vegas, meanwhile, sits at 6-4 and will head to the East Coast where they’ll square off with the 3-7 Atlanta Falcons.
