Lebron James is gearing up for the new version of the ’90s classic Looney Tunes movie, Space Jam 2: A New Legacy.

Taking to Instagram, the film’s star LeBron James shared a clip to promote the movie. James asked his followers to send their original ideas for “a unique, arcade-style video game” inspired by the film. The video game will launch in Xbox Game Pass in June. The chosen winners will get their name in the game credits and receive other prizes.

In 1996, Sony released a video game based on the original film and featured the classic Looney Tunes characters.

James described that the film would not be a sequel to the 1996 original in a recent interview.

The basketball icon star expanded on the film’s plot, saying, “It’s more of a family movie. It’s a parenting movie between me and my son, and me trying to demand my son to do something because I was taught that way growing up.”

“It’s a tackling between me being a parent and supporting my son, and my son basically turning off at some point and me trying to regain that trust throughout the movie. Along with the great Bugs Bunny, and Lola, and Taz, and Tweety. All of them.”

James gave ’90s kids everywhere a nostalgic surprise when he shared a sneak peek of the movie over the summer, which showed him wearing an outfit with the words ‘Tune Squad’.

The movie is scheduled to be released for theaters and on HBO Max in the United States on July 16, 2021, by Warner Bros. Pictures.

It will mark the first theatrically-released film to feature the Looney Tunes characters since 2003’s Looney Tunes: Back in Action. It will also be a combination of live-action and traditional hand-drawn 2D animation with CGI effects.
