LeBron James is preparing to accept his fourth NBA championship ring in his career. The 35-year-old athlete is excited but also expressed disappointment that his family, friends, and fans won’t be there this time.
King James will be flying solo on this one. The athlete will be there with the rest of the Los Angeles Lakers to accept their rings at the Staples Center. But due to the pandemic and COVID-19 regulations, the event will be without its usual fanfare.
On Twitter, James writes, “WOW!!!! Ring Night man!! It just hit me. Man o Man!!! Hate my family, friends and fans won’t be there to witness it though! Nevertheless I can’t believe I’m RINGING it up again.”
LeBron James, 4-Time NBA Champion
LeBron James has waited as many years as he has NBA rings to take home the trophy again. Previously, he won once with the Cleveland Cavaliers and twice with the Miami Heat. When he signed with the Lakers in 2018, he promised to make the team championship contenders. And within two seasons, James has accomplished that and added another highlight to his already impressive career.
James recovered during the 2019-20 season after his first season with the Lakers left him injured. James played just 55 games that season and missed the playoffs for the first time since 2005. But teaming up with Anthony Davis the next season proved to be a fruitful partnership. James led the team to victory and silenced any doubters.
For the season, James averaged 25.3 points, 7.8 rebounds, a league-leading 10.2 assists, and 1.2 steals per game. James will also have the opportunity to lead the Lakers to future championships. He recently signed an $85 million extension with the team to the 2022-23 season. James has been in the NBA so long that he might soon share court space with his son.
Also worth noting, soon James will be taking some of his basketball expertise to Looney Tunes land when he teams up with Bugs Bunny in the long-awaited Space Jam 2.
