After Dallas Mavericks owner Mark Cuban elected not to play the United States National Anthem at his team’s games, the reactions have been flying in.
One such example is former NFL player Jack Brewer. The former Minnesota Golden Gopher spent five seasons in the NFL, hopping from team to team. In recent years, the player has become known for his vocal views on the Fox News network and for his support of Donald Trump.
The 42-year-old pundit joined Fox & Friends to discuss Cuban’s recent decision, which has been effectively overturned by the NBA.
“I can’t believe that Mark Cuban did this,” Brewer said. “You got to remember, the NBA has taken a stand. They have felt the pains of supporting anti-family BLM movements. They felt the pain of supporting anti-American rhetoric. Their ratings dropped over 40 percent last year from doing that. They have taken a stand to stand for the American flag. God bless them for doing it. And then Mark Cuban goes out and goes against them. His presidential future is over officially from this episode.”
Brewer clearly isn’t a fan and doesn’t hold back in his comments. As for the “presidential” comments, Brewer is referencing the handful of times that Cuban has teased an election campaign.
Mark Cuban Speaks on Running for President
Back in late January, Mark Cuban talked about his chances and what it would take for him to run. The Mavs owner didn’t exactly seem enthused about the prospect of running when he talked to Brandon “Scoop B” Robinson.
“Based on everything I know now, no,” Cuban said. “But I mean like you said, if things go south, it depends on how they go south and how far south and whether or not I thought I would be the right person. I wouldn’t do it just to do it. I would only do it if I thought I was the right person. We’ve got time so there’s a whole lot of other qualified people out there too.”
It sounds like the political landscape of the United States would need some drastic changes for Cuban to run for office. But if he does, we can likely count on Jack Brewer being one of the first people to denounce the run.
