Lynch is the first to be interviewed by Manning for the second season of the ESPN+ Emmy-nominated series, Peyton’s Places.
Like many athletes, Marshawn Lynch has a pre-game superstition, but it isn’t what you’d expect.
Marshawn Lynch and Peyton Manning: The Dynamic Duo
“Do you believe in superstitions?” asks Peyton during the interview. “I always liked to read the program front to back, for whatever reason, before the game.”
“By the end of the season, you know where every accountant for the Colts went to college,” jokes Manning.
“Beast Mode”, who earned his nickname by his aggressive running style, responded with an answer Peyton wasn’t expecting.
“My superstition was that I needed to have maybe a shot or a shot and a half before every game,” says Lynch.
“Of?”, asks Peyton.
At that point Marshawn looks at Manning in a seemingly shocked manner.
“Hennessy! What do you mean of?” he says.
Peyton goes on to say, “I was thinking Gatorade or Toradol.”
Marshawn continues to give humorous reactions to Peyton’s questions, as though his superstitious routine of taking a shot of Hennessy before a game isn’t an unusual habit.
With Peyton surprised, he goes on to ask “There’s a bar right there in the locker room in Seattle?”
“No. There’s a bar in my backpack,” Marshawn replies without missing a beat.
People on Twitter are loving the hilarious rhetoric between Marshawn and Peyton.
One person responds, “I love Marshawn’s honesty. He will always tell it like it is. #hennessy“
And another says, “Manny and Marshawn. No other athletes like either of those.”
Lynch played for the Buffalo Bills, Seattle Seahawks, and a stint with his hometown team, the then-Oakland Raiders. With the Seahawks, he led the league in rushing touchdowns twice, made four Pro Bowls, and won Super Bowl XLVIII against the Denver Broncos.
