The news is out that NFL quarterback Aaron Rodgers and Hollywood actor Shailene Woodley are allegedly engaged.
Fans learned just a few days ago that the two were a romantic item. However, during the NFL Honors, Rodgers was talking about what 2020 had in store for him. He let it slip casually during the interview that he “got engaged” during 2020.
Since the two were rumored to be together before the announcement, fans are assuming Woodley is his mystery fiancée. Reportedly, the two are in a long-distance relationship as they both pursue their respective careers.
To celebrate their engagement, let’s take a look at Woodley’s very successful and popular Hollywood career.
Shailene Woodley Acting Jobs
The 29-year-old started out in 2008 when she landed a role on the show “The Secret Life of the American Teenager.”
From there, she starred in some very high-grossing Hollywood movies. Some of these include “The Descendents,” “The Fault in Our Stars,” “The Spectacular Now,” and the “Divergent” movies.
She earned a Golden Globe Award for Best Supporting Actress for her role in “The Descendents.”
Recently, she starred in the TV show “Big Little Lies” alongside Nicole Kidman, Reese Witherspoon, Meryl Streep, and other major names. On the show, she plays a sexual assault victim who moved to a new town to escape from her past. The show was nominated for a Primetime Emmy Award as well as a Golden Globe.
Woodley has had a lot of success during her career for her acting abilities. She has a net worth of about $12 million.
Woodley recently explained a period of her life in her early 20s where she was very sick. She was unsure if she would be able to continue her career in the industry. However, she persevered and continues to work on herself.
“Now I’m on the other side of it, thank God. A lot of the last few years has been about focusing on mental health for me, and it’s a slow process. But because of that work, I feel very grounded and rooted in who I am and very clear about everything in my life, whether it’s my career or my relationships or my own internal worth. I feel very grateful to have walked that line of fire, because now I know what I don’t want to ever go back to,” Woodley told The New York Times.
Woodley Activism and Social Issues
Besides being an influential actor, Woodley is also an activist.
When she played Hazel Grace Lancaster in “The Fault in Our Stars” she had to cut off all her hair, as she was playing a woman with cancer. She donated it all to Children with Hair Loss.
She has been a firm supporter of feminism and representation during her career. While filming for “Divergent” she talked about the importance of women supporting women. Also, she’s an advocate for self-love and body positivity.
In 2014 she said, “My whole life I’ve been so self-conscious about being skinny. And just recently I don’t care anymore. All insecurities are projected because of what you think others are saying about you, but they don’t really matter at all.”
Perhaps one of her biggest contributions has been to save the planet. She lives a largely alternative lifestyle and is very vocal on environmental protection. She collects spring water from the mountains, goes to farms to get her food, and makes a variety of her own personal hygiene products.
Shailene Woodley and her mother created the nonprofit called All it Takes. It helps empower students to become lifelong leaders.
In 2016 she made headlines when she helped to protest the Dakota Access Pipeline. She was vocal about helping to spread awareness for the mistreatment of Native Americans and Indigenous groups. In an article she wrote for Time, Woodley said, “So much so that it took me, a white non-native woman being arrested on Oct 10th in North Dakota, on Indigenous Peoples’ Day, to bring this cause to many people’s attention. And to the forefront of news publications around the world.”
