Meet Tiger Woods’ Children: Son Charlie and Daughter Sam

by Halle Ames

Tiger Wood is known for his performance on the golf course, but what about his two children? Let’s meet them.

Tiger Woods Marriage and Divorce

Professional golfer Tiger Wood is 45-year-old. From 2004 until their highly publicized split in 2010, the Masters Champion was married to Swedish model Elin Nordegren. During their relationship, Nordegren had two children with Woods, including now 13-year-old daughter Sam Alexis Woods and 12-year-old son Charlie Axel Woods.

“We have Sam, and we have Charlie. And we love them so much that we are going to do whatever it takes to make that work,” Tiger Woods told Stephen Colbert in a December 2015 interview. “That’s how it happened. … I’ve talked to her about so many different things, and she does the same thing with me back and forth. We communicate so much better now. It’s incredible. I wish we would have done that earlier on, but it’s been incredible to have a best friend like that.”

Woods and Nordegren split custody over their children.

Sam Alexis Woods

The couple welcomed their first child, Sam Alexis Woods, on June 18, 2007, less than 24 hours after Tiger was the runner-up at the 2007 U.S. Open. However, Elin faced issues during the delivery.

“It wasn’t life-threatening or anything, but she (Sam’s mom) just had a few problems and had to be admitted…It was not easy, because I wanted to be there. And the doctor and Elin said, ‘There’s nothing you can do. So go out there and just get a ‘W.’ Well, came close. But that night was infinitely more rewarding than any ‘W’ ever could have been. I flew, landed in Orlando, went straight to the hospital, and next thing you know, we have Sam Alexis in our arms.”

According to PopSugar, Sam was named after a nickname Tiger’s father used to call him when he was young.

“My father had always called me Sam since the day I was born. He rarely ever called me Tiger. I would ask him, ‘Why don’t you ever call me Tiger?’ He says, ‘Well, you look more like a Sam.'”

Due to her young age, not much is known about the young beauty yet.

Charlie Axel Wood

Tiger Woods and Elin Nordegren welcomed Charlie Axel Woods on February 25, 2009. The young boy is a Tiger in the making, portraying many of the same qualities as his father as well as the same golfing talent.

According to Golf Digest, Charlie Woods tied for second at the U.S. Kids Golf event in 2016, saying he was “dominating the South Florida junior golf circuit.”

In 2020, Charlie won a junior golf tournament by five strokes, in which Tiger caddied for him.

In December, Tiger Woods made his tournament debut with his son. Team Woods was the talk of the PNC Championship with identical mannerisms and swing styles.

The Golf Channel provides one highlight from the memorable weekend in December.

“Despite the event’s scramble format, the 11-year-old Woods eagled the par-5 third hole on his own. Team Woods chose to play Charlie’s drive, leaving them about 175 yards into the hole. Charlie then hit fairway wood to 4 feet and made the putt.”

Charlie Woods has a shining career ahead of him. At the rate, the now 12-year-old could be breaking the records his father currently holds.
