On Sunday (November 28th), former NFL star Michael Strahan took to Instagram to share snapshots of him going airborne during the New York Giant’s jersey retirement ceremony.

As previously reported, Michael Strahan announced late last week that his jersey number, 92, is officially retired for the New York Giants. This means no one is ever able to wear his jersey number on the football team again.

In the special social media post, Strahan wrote, “This Sunday, I have the extreme honor to head to Metlife Stadium to have $92 officially retired by the New York Giants. 15 years of respecting the team on and off the field and closing out my career with a Super Bowl win went by in a flash!!”

In his Instagram post on Sunday, Michael Strahan declared, “Once a Giant… ALWAYS A GIANT! Thank you, New York Giants, for this tremendous honor. Forever grateful to so many. And a nice WIN for the Giants!!!”

Michael Strahan currently holds various NFL records. This includes most sacks in a single season. He finished his 15-year NFL career in 2007 with more than 140 sacks. In 2014, he was inducted into the Professional Football Hall of Fame.

Following his departure from the NFL, Michael Strahan joined Fox NFL Sunday pregame. He was then the host of the Fox NFL Thursday pregame show with Terry Bradshaw and Howie Long. The former football player went on to host on Live! With Kelly and Michael until 2016. He is now the co-host of Good Morning America.

The New York Giants are now currently tied with the Chicago Bears of the most retired number of team jerseys. Both teams now have 14 jerseys retired.

Despite the Current Season, Michael Strahan Still Loves the New York Giants

During a recent interview with Cold as Balls with Kevin Hart, Michael Strahan admitted that despite the current season, he still loves the New York Giants. The NFL team’s 2021 record is 4-7.

“We suck Kev!” Michael Strahan declared. “What can I say? It’s heartbreaking. Every Sunday, I got to sit there in that [Fox Sports] studio. I have guys giving me a hard time. And I got to sit there and have my heart ripped out. Because we find a way to lose games.”

Although he criticizes the team, Michael Strahan stated he is still a Giants fan. While speaking about the Giants winning against the Philadelphia Eagles, Strahan shared he appreciates the Eagles fans. “I appreciate beating the hell out of y’all every time I had the chance. More sacks against the Eagles than any other team in the history of the NFL in my career. So there you go. That’s how I feel about the Eagles.”
