Bubba Wallace shares his thoughts about Daytona 500 finish on Twitter. Says he “should’ve bailed sooner.”
After snagging a one lap lead, and navigating around a fiery crash. Bubba Wallace was still only able to clinch 17th place in the Daytona 500 yesterday. Wallace took to Twitter after the race to share his thoughts on his performance.
He wrote, “Bum end. I bailed out down the back saw the wreck happening and got run over from behind. Should’ve bailed sooner. Fast car, can’t have loose wheels. Onto the right turns.”
However, Bubba was able to help boost his teammate’s standings, Donny Hamlin who was hoping for a record-making third, first-place finish in a row. Ultimately, Hamlin finished fifth.
Michael Jordan Talks About Bubba Wallace ‘He’s Got Talent’
When you think NASCAR, you may not immediately think of Michael Jordan. However, Jordan has been a big fan of the sport since he was a kid. In fact, Jordan has shared stories about when his father packed up Jordan and the family and took trips to see races at Southern tracks like Daytona, Darlington Raceway, and defunct Rockingham Speedway. Additionally, Jordan once said that he sets his clock to watch NASCAR every week. So, it’s no surprise that he now has his own team. Bubba Wallace made his first race appearance with Michael Jordan’s new team 23XI yesterday.
Although Bubba wasn’t able to clinch the win, Jordan seems hopeful about his team. During a post-race interview, Jordan shared his thoughts on Bubba and the 23XI team.
“I feel like he’s going to learn how to win. He’s got the talent,” said Jordan. “We would not have invested in him and picked him if he didn’t have the talent to win. By the end of the year, I think he’s going to have an opportunity and probably will win at least a couple of races. If it’s more, I’d be elated.”
