Dale Earnhardt Jr. may be semi-retired from racing, but he certainly hasn’t picked up guitar playing as a hobby since.

Earnhardt and country music star Brad Paisley starred in an ad hyping up the Nashville race on Sunday, June 20.

In the hilarious ad, Earnhardt is strumming away on a guitar carelessly. Brad Paisley looks absolutely disgusted before eventually grabbing the guitar by the neck and walking away out of the frame.

Earnhardt shared the ad and wrote, “Want the truth? The first few takes he said I needed to play worse to make it more believable. Translation: I was too good at the guitar. From a country legend. In Nashville. Life made.”

Maybe Earnhardt will learn to play the guitar in his free time after all.

Racing Makes a Return to Nashville

Dale Earnhardt Jr. is beyond thrilled to see racing make a return to one of his favorite racetracks.

The popular driver has been retired since 2017, but races once a year in the NASCAR Xfinity series. He announced he would be racing at the Richmond Speedway on Sept. 11, but even declared he would switch it all up to see drivers race around the Nashville Fairground Speedway again.

“I run once a year. I’ll probably do that as long as I can and there should be a few more years of that. Hopefully we can get the Xfinity here soon; the next couple of years because I’d love to come out here and compete,” Earnhardt said, according to the Tennessean.

Now, Paisley and Earnhardt are welcoming NASCAR’s return to The Music City.

According to NBC Sports, NASCAR had taken a 37-year break from racing in the famous city. The Cup Series is coming to Nashville on the weekend of June 19-20. It will also mark the opening weekend of NBC Sports’ coverage for the 2021 NASCAR season. All in all, Earnhardt really did get what he wanted.

We’re going to be getting even more of Paisley and Earnhardt interacting together besides the ads they’ve completed. The duo will serve as hosts for the pre-race coverage that will happen live from the Peacock Pit Box at Nashville Superspeedway. So, Earnhardt won’t be racing, but he will be very involved with the entire event.

“I’m thrilled to work with my friend Brad Paisley to welcome NASCAR back to one of my favorite cities. I can’t wait to get on the Peacock Pit Box with Brad, celebrate the passionate racing fans in and around Nashville, and kick off NBC Sports’ portion of the NASCAR season in style,” Earnhardt said.
