Sunday, Sept. 26, was a very good day for NASCAR driver Denny Hamlin. On that day, the 40-year-old driver of the No. 11 Toyota came away with the victory at the South Point 400 at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway.
Needless to say, Hamlin was very happy with the result. He shared his excitement during a video interview with NASCAR after his win. Of course, Hamlin was very grateful for the work his team did to prepare his car for the race.
“Victory lane! South Point 400!” Hamline opened the interview. “Uh, I can’t thank my Toyota and Fedex team – they just gave me a great car today.”
The importance of his victory on Sunday wasn’t lost on the veteran driver. “Winner of the next round, again, so we can move on. Now, two more stressless weeks going into round eight,” Hamlin also shared.
He also made sure NASCAR fans know that he is excited to be driving for his team. “So, I just couldn’t be happy enough, you know, grateful enough to drive for Joe Gibbs racing,” Denny Hamlin said.
Unsurprisingly, the star driver is looking forward to the next race. “Can’t wait for Talladega next week,” Hamlin also said.

South Point 400 Denny Hamlin Having a Solid Run During the NASCAR Cup Series Playoffs
Denny Hamlin’s win at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway on Sunday during the South Point 400 on Sunday is his second win during the NASCAR Cup Series Playoffs, according to NASCAR. His first victory in the postseason took place at Darlington Raceway in the Southern 500. This race was the first race in the league’s Round of 16.
These victories have to be giving Hamlin confidence on the racetrack. During the regular season, he went without a victory for 26 races. This caused him to miss out on the Regular Season Championship.
In addition to his two victories, Hamlin has also been a dominant force on the track during the playoffs. So far, there have been four playoff races, consisting of 1,534 laps. Out of that number, Hamlin has been the leader in 545 of those laps. That is a rate of 35.5 percent.
“We knew that this is what we’re capable of. Really we’ve shown this all year long. It shows in laps led, top fives, top 10s. For whatever reason, whether it be bad luck, mistakes on our own, we haven’t got all the bunches of wins that we’ve had in the past. Hopefully, this is the start of a really good run,” Denny Hamlin also said.
His recent victories have also given Hamlin’s team a lot of confidence as the battle for a championship continues. One member of his team also talked about how important the sport’s Round 12 immunity is for drivers.
“It really can’t be overstated. Again, these race teams at this level, they’re all professionals. They deal with pressure so well. It’s just part of the job in pro sports. If there’s a competitor out there, a team out there, that’s not having to deal with that pressure, it’s a big advantage. I’m happy it’s the 11 car,” Hamlin’s crew chief Chris Gabehart shared.
