NASCAR: Denny Hamlin Reveals New Masked-Up Photos Amid Kurt Busch Crash Backlash

NASCAR racer Denny Hamlin has caught a lot of heat for what happened over the weekend. At the Folds of Honor QuikTrip 500 race in Atlanta on Sunday, Hamlin clipped the bumper of Kurt Busch. The slight nudge sent the driver of the number 1 Monster Energy car spinning into the wall. Unfortunately, the car suffered some major damage and Busch withdrew from the race.

Denny Hamlin has not directly addressed the crash yet, however, he seems like he has his eyes set ahead. Earlier today, he posted to Instagram a few masked-up pictures from Atlanta. Despite the negative energy that has been directed toward him through Twitter, the Instagram vibe remains positive.

“Looking forward to turning these top 5 runs into wins,” Denny Hamlin said in his post with a “Team Toyota” hashtag. One of the pictures of the slideshow features the Air Jordan logo, which alludes to his partnership with 23XI racing, co-owned by Hamlin and His Airness himself, Micahel Jordan. The name 23XI represents Jordan and Hamlin’s two numbers. Hamlin still races in his number 11 car while Bubba Wallace drives in the new number 23 car.

Kurt Busch Upset Over Crash

Denny Hamlin certainly seems ready to move forward after his fifth top-five finish in six races. However, Kurt Busch isn’t quite ready to let go of his anger toward Hamlin for the crash. He spoke about his frustration following the race on Sunday.

“It looks like he didn’t do anything vicious or malicious there,” Busch said about Denny Hamlin. “It’s just…dude, bro, it’s a 500-miler. These are the days that hurt the worst. This absolutely hurts the worst because we had a top-five, Monster Energy-winning Chevy, and I’m sitting here talking with you guys. I’m pretty pissed off. It’s a restart. Where are we going to go, man? Just chill.”

Denny Hamlin Finishes in the Top Five Again

For the fifth time in six races, NASCAR star Denny Hamlin has finished in the top five. At the Folds of Honor QuikTrip 500 in Atlanta, Hamlin came in fourth place. Despite the controversial wreck with Kurt Busch, Hamlin takes the positives from the race and moves forward as he tries to turn those top-five finishes into victories. His next opportunity to do so will be in the Food City Dirt Race next Sunday.
