NASCAR Legend Dale Earnhardt Sr. Had 4 Kids: Where Are They Now

by Madison Miller

Dale Earnhardt Sr. is one of the most influential figures in NASCAR history. After his tragic crash in the final lap of the Daytona 500 in 2001, he has continued to leave a huge legacy on racing.

This includes countless success stories, a change in safety precautions that have made the sport safer, and his children. Racing is a family business in the Earnhardt family with several current and past family members getting behind the wheel.

While Dale Earnhardt Jr. is the most known of his kids, Earnhardt Sr. has three other kids as well. Take a look at where they are now and what they’ve been up to.

Kerry Earnhardt

The oldest of Earnhardt’s kids is Kerry Earnhardt. Dale Earnhardt had Kerry with his first wife, Latane Brown. He had dropped out of high school at the age of 17 and a year later the two had Kerry in 1969.

According to Country Music Family, the two got divorced when Kerry was only 1. After that, Kerry never really saw his father until he was about 16.

Kerry had taken a liking to racing himself. However, he struggled during his time with NASCAR to keep up with the competition. After that, he transitioned into a role as a consultant working with driver development for Dale Earnhardt Inc. until 2011.

As of now, he has been married to his wife René since 1999. They have a daughter named Kayla. Kerry also had two sons from a previous marriage and she had one daughter. Both of Kerry’s sons, Bobby and Jeffrey, have recently made an appearance in racing, making them the fourth generation of Earnhardts on the track.

Kelley Earnhardt Miller

After divorcing his first wife, Dale Earnhardt met Brenda Gee. They got married in 1971 and had Kelley the next year.

She has also stayed close to the family’s racing legacy by becoming the vice-president of JR Motorsports. She co-owns the business with Dale Earnhardt Jr.

Miller had an interest in racing at a young age as well. According to an article from ESPN, Dale Earnhardt Sr. thought that Kelley was going to be the next great driver to come from the family. He said she had the “aggression, mental toughness, a willingness to push the car to its limit.”

He was known as “The Intimidator,” so it’s no surprise he thought aggression and toughness is the key to success in racing.

“She could have had a lot of opportunities had it been a different environment and a different culture and a different climate. She was hardheaded and tough and drove hard … would eventually have polished her abilities to where she would have been a pretty good race car driver at the higher level,” Earnhardt Jr. said.

However, during the ’90s racing wasn’t welcoming toward women. Even now, women are scarce in the sport. It was this factor that may have kept Kelley from becoming a widely successful racer.

Dale Earnhardt Jr.

Dale Earnhardt Jr. has become the most popular current name of the Earnhardt family.

He took over after his father and pursued a very successful career in NASCAR. He has won the Daytona 500 twice, which is more than his father did. Earnhardt was also given the Most Popular Driver Award 15 consecutive times. He is now semi-retired with a total of 26 wins in the Cup Series.

Besides racing, he is also an author, team owner, podcaster, and analyst for NASCAR on NBC. Earnhardt owns a series of businesses such as Hammerhead Entertainment and Whiskey River Beer and Wings.

He is married to Amy Reimann. The couple share two daughters together named Nicole and Isla.

The couple has become known for their real estate ventures. They had their own HGTV show called “Renovation Realities: Dale Jr. & Amy.” The two have renovated several houses in Key West, Florida.

Taylor Earnhardt

Dale Earnhardt Sr. split from his wife Gee and got married to his third wife, Teresa.

They had a daughter named Taylor in 1988. She is a professional rodeo performer and a cattle rancher.

According to her official site, she was the 2015 All-Around Cowgirl at the Southern Rodeo Association. She has written that “My whole family likes going fast. Everybody else runs on 800 horsepower, I run on one.”
