For the third day in a row, the weather has delayed the NASCAR Autotrader EchoPark Automotive 500. To pass the time, NASCAR decided to fill the championship trophy with different products.
The organization live-streamed the video then posted it to Twitter. In the video, NASCAR officials filled the cup with beer, soda, and even M&Ms to see how much it could hold.
“We’re still dealing with a little weather at Texas Motor Speedway,” driver Ryan Blaney said. “But for now, we have the NASCAR championship trophy, the Bill France Cup in the house. We’re going to fill it up with some of our favorite partner products.”
According to the video, the Bill France Cup is 37 inches tall and weighs around 68 pounds. Officials managed to stuff 28 cans of Busch Light beer into the trophy cup. One official said, “Twenty-eight to do it safely without some kind of hazard and affecting the trophy.”
They also filled the cup with cans of Coca-cola sodas. The cup managed to hold three large containers of anti-freezer, still in the bottle. Finally, the organization closed its experiment by filling the cup with 14,798 M&M candies. They said the candy weighed about 21 pounds.
NASCAR Delayed the Race Due to Weather
This was the third day in the row the event got delayed. The race was delayed on Sunday after only 52 of its 334 laps completed, according to Fox News. The race was delayed again on Monday (Oct. 26) and for a third time on Tuesday (Oct. 27). The organization will attempt the race later today (Oct. 28).
Bored drivers attempted to find ways to pass the time. Driver Joey Logano asked if he could help with drying off the track.
“This is how crazy I am — I called Eddie Gossage and asked if there was anything I could do to help because I am that bored,” Logano told Fox News. “That is a really risky move if you guys know Eddie. I am willing to do anything at this point.
“I tried to get him to open the go-kart track and let us go play with those.”
