On Sunday, NASCAR driver Denny Hamlin celebrated on victory lane. During the early hours of Monday morning, he was still riding high as he posted about his big win.
The #11 Offerpad Toyota racer took the checkered flag yesterday in Darlington, South Carolina. He held off Kyle Larson in the final 10 laps to win the NASCAR Cup Series Cook Out Southern 500 at Darlington Raceway. The victory is Hamlin’s only first-place finish of the 2021 season so far. And it couldn’t have come at a better time.
Denny Hamlin and his team will advance to the NASCAR Cup Series playoffs Round of 12 because of the win. Other drivers like Alex Bowman, Michael McDowell, Kyle Busch, and William Byron are now on the fence when it comes to their playoff hopes. Each of those drivers are currently on the outside looking in since they’re below the cut line. They still have an opportunity to earn their playoff spot though. Next up is the second of three Round of 16 races, which will take place at Richmond on Saturday.
However, after numerous close finishes without getting first place this season, Hamlin and his team are right where they need to be.
“It was a matter of time,” Denny Hamlin said after his team’s big win. “We can’t just keep leading with 10 laps to go every week and not get a win.”
The NASCAR driver reiterated his stance that his team needed the overdue victory in a simple Twitter post. He wrote, “Finally. #TeamToyota,” alongside two pictures of him hugging his enormous Darlington trophy.
Denny Hamlin Comes Out Victorious the Same Week His Girlfriend Shares Concerning Messages
While Denny Hamlin was nothing but smiles over the weekend, his last week was filled with rumors and drama. This past week, his longtime girlfriend and mother to his two children shared some concerning messages on Twitter.
Hamlin has been with girlfriend Jordan Fish since 2007. She used to be part of the Charlotte Bobcats (now the Charlotte Hornets) dance team. A few months after they met at a game, Hamlin sponsored her for the Miss South Carolina USA pageant. The couple has been together ever since, and share two daughters together: Taylor, 8, and Molly, 4.
Yet things seem to be heading south for their relationship after Fish shared two bombshell tweets she later deleted. In addition, she deleted her Twitter account altogether and changed her Instagram account to private.
“I have been quiet for too long for far too long,” Jordan Fish tweeted. “And I have endured things no one person should EVER have to endure, and today was no exception. [Denny Hamlin] I hope everyone will finally see you for the person you truly are.”
“Myself and our children deserve better than what you have given. I cannot believe I ever thought that someone like you could change. Because you cannot. You have a long road ahead of you, and one I graciously no longer will be a part of. Have a great life [Denny Hamlin],” she wrote in the second tweet.
At a minimum, it looks like this could signal the end of the couple’s longtime relationship. Fish hasn’t shared any further details about the situation, and Denny Hamlin has yet to address his girlfriend’s comments.
