NASCAR is coming to Nashville on June 18–20 for a full weekend of racing. The inaugural Ally 400 NASCAR Cup Series race at Nashville Superspeedway on June 20 (Father’s Day) marks NASCAR’s first return to the area in 37 years. The last NASCAR Cup Series event in Nashville was the Pepsi 420 in July 1984.
NASCAR weekend in Nashville will also be highlighted by an Xfinity Series race on June 19 and a Truck Series race on June 18. Tickets for the Ally 400 are already sold out, with an expected crowd of around 38,000. At press time, tickets are still available for the Xfinity and Truck races.
And when NASCAR comes to a city like Nashville, you can expect a bevy of additional celebrations that combine country music and racing.
Chris Janson will perform a pre-race concert at Nashville Superspeedway on June 20. Chris will perform in between the morning qualifying session at 10:05 a.m. CT and the start of the Ally 400 at 2:30 p.m. CT. In addition, Gibson Guitar has partnered with Nashville Superspeedway to create one-of-a-kind guitars for the winning drivers.
Wet Your Whistle With Waltrip
Of course, Nashville will be abuzz with pre-race festivities all week.
On June 14, Michael Waltrip will cruise into Music City to host a dinner at Blake Shelton’s Ole Red Nashville on Lower Broadway. The two-time Dayton 500 winner will be packing a punch, too. He’s bringing plenty of cases of beer from Michael Waltrip Brewing, which is headquartered in Phoenix, Arizona.
The four-course dinner, prepared by executive chef Joe Denomme, will feature a festive menu, including redneck tamales, grilled wreckfish, peach cobbler, and more. Each course will be paired with beers from Waltrip’s brewery, including an IPA, stout, blonde ale, and a cocktail. The $75 ticketed event at 6 p.m. on June 14 will also include a Q/A with Michael from the stage, autographs, and photo ops.
“Ole Red and beer—now you’re talking,” said Michael Waltrip. “Ole Red is one of the most fun and cool places in Nashville. I’m really excited to partner with them to create a beer pairing dinner using our Michael Waltrip Brewing Company beers. I can’t wait to see what the chef comes up with and of course, share our beers with folks.”
Michael Waltrip’s beers will be available in Nashville on July 5, but you can wet your whistle at Ole Red on June 14.
“We are bringing our Two-Time Blonde Ale, which will be available in Tennessee in July, along with two special reserve beers that we’ve never shared before,” added Michael. “I’m looking forward to a really fun night at Ole Red.”
