Why would New Orleans Saints defensive end Cam Jordan want to leave his team’s game? Possibly because his wife was in labor.
Jordan was ejected from the Saints’ 32-29 loss against the Kansas City Chiefs last Sunday for throwing a punch.
He shares a little more background behind his ejection and wife’s birth of their child Chanel.
Here’s the play in question as Jordan is attempting to get past a Chiefs’ offensive lineman.
Notice at first, the penalty call was simply 15 yards for unsportsmanlike conduct. It took a minute or so more for the referee to clarify that because Jordan threw a punch, he was disqualified from the game.
In other words, his day was over on the field.

Jordan is a 10-year NFL veteran who, through Sunday, has 31 tackles and 6.5 sacks on the season. The 6-4, 287-pounder went to college at the University of California. He’s played his entire pro career with the Saints.
New Orleans Saints Have Had To Deal With Brees’ Injuries
The New Orleans Saints have had to deal with injuries affecting their starting quarterback, Drew Brees, this season.
Brees suffered multiple rib fractures and a collapsed lung during a game against the San Francisco 49ers.
He had a shoulder injury coming into that game, but played the entire first half and completed eight of 13 passes for 76 yards and a touchdown. Late in the second quarter, he took a big hit from 49ers defensive lineman Kentavius Street. It resulted in referees calling a roughing-the-passer penalty on Street.
Brees got up favoring his right shoulder/rib area. Still, he remained in for the rest of the half and threw a touchdown pass to running back Alvin Kamara. Backup quarterback Jameis Winston played the second half, leading the Saints to a 27-13 win over the 49ers.
Around New Orleans, Brees has gained hero-level worship as he helped lead the team to a Super Bowl victory after Hurricane Katrina destroyed much of the city.
