NFL: Brett Favre Sends Message to Packers Fans Amid Ongoing Aaron Rodgers-Jordan Love Drama

by Amy Myers

Former Green Bay superstar quarterback, Brett Favre, advises Packers fans to take a deep breath before panicking over the continued stand-off with current QB Aaron Rodgers.

After recently missing mandatory mini-camp, Rodgers has Wisconsin fans worried that he will not return to the NFL for the 2021 season. However, Favre assures that Rodgers’ absence is not a definitive stance on the future of his career.

What’s Causing Aaron Rodgers’ Absence

Many fans believe that Aaron Rodgers’ recent behavior is a result of last year’s NFL draft when the Packers signed on quarterback Jordan Love.

Though fans sensed some tension between their MVP and executives, Aaron Rodgers maintained that the issue instead stems from philosophy. In an appearance on SportsCenter, Rodgers admitted, “With my situation, look it’s never been about the draft pick, picking Jordan…I love Jordan; he’s a great kid. [We’ve had] a lot of fun to work together. Love the coaching staff, love my teammates, love the fan base in Green Bay. An incredible 16 years. It’s just kind of about a philosophy and maybe forgetting that it is about the people that make the thing go. It’s about character, it’s about culture, it’s about doing things the right way.”

Aaron Rodgers’ frustrations were further exacerbated with this year’s NFL draft on June 1, when the team refused to trade the quarterback–a decision that Rodgers felt prioritized money over people, according to Sports Illustrated’s FanNation.

Since then, Rodgers has apparently felt less committed to the team, and from his attendance record at mini-camp and voluntary team activities, it shows.

Brett Favre Issues a Warning to the Packers

Despite Aaron Rodgers’ spotty attendance, Brett Favre tells Green Bay fans that this isn’t enough reason to be alarmed. “It’s not the first time someone’s missed a mini-camp or an OTA,” Favre reports on his podcast, “Bolling with Favre.”

According to TMZ, Favre admits he doesn’t know how the stalemate with the Packers will end, but he does offer one piece of crucial advice: Start preparing Jordan Love as a starting QB.

“Now, you’re really kinda studying what Jordan does best, what he does similar to Aaron, how that relates to how I call the game in the future,” Favre said in his podcast.

In the event that Rodgers decides not to return, Favre believes that the Packers should prepare for the worst now by creating an offensive plan that suits Love’s strengths and skills.

Favre’s Take on Rodgers’ Stance

Given Brett Favre’s close relationship with Aaron Rodgers, his opinion of the MVP’s future with the Packers is one that fans hold truer than others.

“Whatever the issue is, if it’s not resolved — or even if it’s resolved but he feels like they got one up on him — he ain’t going to play,” Favre said in a previous episode of his podcast. “Knowing Aaron, he would sit.”

However, even with this opinion, Favre believes fans should wait to press the “panic button.”

Instead, he tells fans to wait until the end of the month to see if Aaron Rodgers will show up to practice.

Until then, Green Bay will be keeping their fingers crossed.
