Earlier this month John Elway of the Denver Broncos tested positive for COVID-19. However, he’s in recovery and thanking his fans for their well wishes.
The Denver Broncos legend took to Twitter to share that he’s back at work, thanks to the support of his followers.
John Elway writes, “Great to be back!! Thanks to everyone for your support. I appreciate you all very much!!”
In addition to the text, Elway shares the photo of himself at his desk. He’s wearing a face mask and holding a thumbs up.
John Elway Journey with COVID-19
According to the Denver Broncos organization, the onset of COVID-19 symptoms took ahold of Elway on Sunday, Nov. 1. He immediately reported to the team that he wasn’t feeling well and was going to watch that Sunday game from home.
The organization says that he received a positive coronavirus test, confirming his diagnosis on Nov. 3.
“He continued to work from home on Monday before receiving a positive test result this morning,” stated the team. Elway continued to work from home in self-isolation and joined meetings virtually while he was recovering. The team says that he only suffered mild symptoms.
Broncos president and CEO Joe Ellis also tested positive alongside Elway. The organization believes that Elway’s and Ellis’ cases originated independently outside the team’s facilities.
Furthermore, Elway shares on social media that he’s back in the office on Nov. 13. He was cleared by medical staff and allowed to return to the office on Friday. However, Eliis is still experiencing symptoms and working from home.
The quarterback spent 16 years playing for the Broncos, before retiring in 1999. He returned to the franchise in 2011 to take on the role of general manager.
Broncs Hit Hard by the Virus
The front office staff weren’t the only ones to have a run in with the coronavirus.
Defensive lineman Shelby Harris, right guard Graham Glasgow, defensive coordinator Ed Donatell, offensive line coach Mike Munchak and running backs coach Curtis Modkins have all spent time following the COVID-19 protocol.
Earlier this year, outside linebacker Von Miller, safety Kareem Jackson, and fullback/tight end Andrew Beck all battled coronavirus. Those players have since recovered.
