COVID-19 is powerful, but not powerful enough to stop a proud mom from showing how proud she is of her son.

NFL defensive end for Washington brought his very proud mother with him to a press conference. However, she was only there virtually.

After beating the San Francisco 49ers 23-15, Young appeared at a press conference. The game was a huge success for Washington. Young alone had six tackles, a sack, a forced fumble, and a fumble recovery leading to a touchdown.

When a reporter asked about his mom’s opinion on the game, he showed his mom who had been on FaceTime the whole time.

According to TMZ Sports, Young’s mother showered her son in compliments in front of the press.

“Oh my gosh, I’m just so worn out … This game was just outstanding I couldn’t even believe it. I was in shock,” Carla Young said.

Not only was this a surprising and sweet moment, but it shocked fans who were earlier amused by Young’s mother being his biggest critic.

Chase Young’s First Season

Right now, Chase Young is Pro Football Focus’ highest-graded rookie defensive player of the year. So what is there to criticize exactly?

According to an NBC Sports article, Young told reporters that for his first seven games his mom gave him a C+ on his performance. This isn’t because he’s doing poorly, but rather he isn’t “performing nearly up to his capabilities.”

One reason he got a C+ is that he wasn’t leading the league in sacks, so he is now trying to up that number. While she is concerned with sacks because that’s where the “money” is, Young is more concerned with just helping his team. Most of the time he is double-teamed because of his outstanding performance on the field.

“The coaches, whatever they need me to do, I’ll do. I ain’t trippin’ about this, that. Whatever the team needs me to do, I’m gonna do,” Young said.

Whatever Young and the team are doing is definitely working. Washington is 6-7 right now but is a force to be reckoned with this season. They are seated at No.1 in the NFC East division. Washington has won four straight games and is favored to take the division completely. The trick for them has been defense, in this case, led by rookie Chase Young.

He is only 12 games into his career, yet already looking like a seasoned professional on the field.
