Dallas Cowboys Owner and General Manager Jerry Jones is offering an apology to a Dallas-area radio host.

Appearing on his weekly radio segment on Tuesday, Jones became agitated at question from host Shan Sheriff, according to ESPN. Jones was asked if he saw a “void in leadership” amongst his team. As Sheriff attempted to rephrase the question, Jones told him to “shut up” so that he could answer the question.

“Well, just shut up and let me answer,” Jones said to Sheriff. Jones then answered the leadership question with a simple “no” saying he did not sense a void in leadership for the Cowboys.

As Sherriff thought of another way to ask the question, Jones said he already answered the question.

“”You’re not asking me that,” he said. “I gave you the answer. When I go into the locker room, there’s no leadership void in my eyes. Now that’s your answer. Let’s move on.”

Jones would later apologize for the comment. His frustration likely stems from his team’s woeful record so far this season. They have just two wins and five losses. They sit a third place in the NFC East, a division in which all four teams currently possess a losing record.

The Cowboys have also faced a plethora of injuries this season and the COVID-19 pandemic has changed the league for everyone. Star Quarterback Dak Prescott, offensive tackles Tyron Smith and La’el Collins and tight end Blake Jarwin are a few of the Cowboy players to miss significant time this season due to injury.

While the Cowboy offense has struggled with injuries, the defense has been even worse. They are on pace to give up 555 points this season, according to an ESPN report. The defense, lead by defensive coordinator Mike Nolan, has already given up 243 points through seven games this season. Nolan made news earlier this week when he paused a press conference due to accidently rubbing tabasco sauce in his eye.
