New Orleans Saints quarterback Drew Brees suffered a serious injury on Sunday as his team defeated the San Francisco 49ers. ESPN NFL Reporter Ed Werder says Brees is likely to miss some upcoming game action due to the injury.
“Source: Results of medical evaluations performed today on Saints quarterback Drew Brees revealed that he has multiple rib fractures on both sides of his chest and a collapsed lung on the right side,” Werder tweets. “Injuries suffered over two weeks. It is uncertain how much time he will miss.”
Brees, who is sure to be a future hall-of-famer, is the heart and soul of the New Orleans Saints franchise. Now 41-years-old, Saints fans are hoping their quarterback makes a return.

The quarterback assures fans he is in recovery and “we will be back in no time” in a Monday evening Instagram post.
“Who Dat Nation: I’ve got the best medical team in the world,” he says. “Will be back in no time.”
The photo shows the quarterback being tended to by his three children, who are using toy medical equipment to give their father a checkup.
Brees exited the game on Sunday’s matchup in the first half and did not return for the second half. He reportedly told Saints Head Coach Sean Payton that he would be ineffective if reinserted back into the game. Former undrafted free agent and Saints backup quarterback Taysom Hill is expecting to see plenty of playing time in Brees’ absence.
He reiterated the message to the media saying: “I was not going to be able to be effective.”
The Saints have a 7-2 record on the season and are set to take on the Atlanta Falcons this weekend.
