NFL: Kyle Allen Thanks Fans for ‘Overwhelming Love’ After Brutal Ankle Injury

Washington Football Team Quarterback Kyle Allen suffered a horrendous-looking injury on Sunday playing the New York Giants. The QB is now thanking fans for their outpouring of love and support as he enters the injury rehabilitation phase. Allen took to social media Sunday evening to express his appreciation.

“Just want to thank everyone for the overwhelming love and support today,” he writes. “This is the unfortunate part of the game we play, but there’s no adversity you can’t overcome!! I promise I’ll be back stronger, and better because of it. Love every second of my first year in Washington. I can’t wait for more!”

Allen Suffers Gruesome Injury

Allen’s injury occurred in the first quarter when Giants defensive player Jabrill Peppers sacked the quarterback for a loss. Video of the injury immediately made the social media rounds. The video of the gruesome injury is not for the faint of heart.

Allen was clearly in a lot of pain and writhing on the ground while waiting for medical attention. The first-year Washington Football Team quarterback completed 5 of 7 passes for 62 yards before leaving the game due to the injury.

While being carted off his homefield, Allen was greeted by a serenade of cheers from Washington fans. As he was heading into the locker room, he gave a “thumbs up” to the small crowd.

“Kyle Allen has been carted off with an apparent leg injury,” Yahoo Sports Tweets. “Alex Smith is in at quarterback.”

Monday brought news that maybe Allen’s injury was not as serious as it first appeared. NFL Reporter Tom Pelissero says Allen suffered an ankle dislocation due to the hit.

“The initial diagnosis on Washington QB Kyle Allen is a dislocated ankle, but only a small fracture, source says,” he tweets. “A significant injury, but somewhat better than it looked initially on replay.”

Alex Smith, who has his own issues with devastating injuries, is expected to be Washington’s starting quarterback this week.
