NFL: Raiders’ Nelson Agholor Suffers Gruesome Hand Injury, Later Returns to Field

Las Vegas Raiders wide receiver Nelson Agholor is proving that the NFL is indeed full of tough guys who can take a hit.

Agholor, in his first season with the Raiders, suffered a gruesome-looking injury in his most recent outing. The Raiders were taking on division rivals, the Los Angeles Chargers, during last night’s Thursday Night Football contest.

Agholor dislocated his finger during a play but did not miss hardly any playing time in the contest. It was later confirmed that the wide out actually dislocated his finger after awkwardly bracing himself before hitting the ground. The following social media post shows Agholor’s finger in a position you are unlikely to find most fingers in.

“Nelson Agholor dislocates his finger,” the tweet says. “It should be pointed in this direction.”

Nelson Agholor Returns Quickly After Finger Dislocation

The injury occurred in the third quarter of the Thursday Night Football matchup, pitting rivals against each other. Targeted by Raiders quarterback Marcus Mariotta, Agholor attempted to snare the pass. The ball hit him in the hands but he was unable to haul it in. As he fell to the ground, he used his arms and hands to brace himself as he landed hard onto the turf. When he rose from the field, the finger injury was obvious and he retreated to the Raiders sideline for attention. He was tended to by the team’s medical staff immediately upon reaching the sideline.

Whatever the medical staff did for the receiver — it worked like a charm. Agholor missed all of one play before returning to the field. He would go on to four catches on the night for 49 yards. The Raiders would fall to the Chargers by a final score of 30-27.
