NFL: This Year’s Top Jersey Sales Revealed

by Josh Lanier

Take a second and think about what NFL players you think would have sold the most jerseys this year. You guessed Patrick Mahomes and Tom Brady didn’t you?

Yeah, there were little surprises on the top of the jersey sales this season. While Houston’s Deshaun Watson led the NFL in passing yards he was on a bad team. And though Buffalo’s Josh Allen is becoming a superstar in Upstate New York, he’s still making a name for himself.

Mahomes and Brady combined for 9,373 passing yards, 78 touchdowns, and 18 interceptions this season, according to Outkick. That puts Mahomes second and Brady third in overall passing yards this season.

But while there was little surprise at the top of the final season tallies, the weekly sales provides some shocks.

Fanatic did a week-by-week breakdown of jersey sales with plenty of interesting details like Cam Newton topping Brady in the number of jerseys sold in weeks 1 and 2. It’s likely Newton led in most jerseys returned for a few weeks as well.

NFL Report: Tom Brady Returning to Tampa Bay for 2021

It may come as no surprise that Tom Brady will return to Tampa Bay considering he still has another year on his contract. But at his age and with nothing left to prove, it would be easy for him to walk away.

But that’s not the plan apparently, according to ESPN’s Ian Rapoport. And not only does he plan to return to play, but he also says the team will be better than this season, Yahoo reported. Brady has said he wants to play until he’s 45. He’ll be 44 next season, so it’s absolutely possible, barring an injury.

Brady looked brilliant at points this season and helped Tampa Bay go 11-5 to make their first playoffs since 2007. The 43-year-old passed for more than 4,600 yards with 40 touchdowns and only 12 picks.

The Buccaneers play the Washington Football Team in the wild-card round today.
