NFL: Tom Brady Breaks Silence on Viral Lombardi Trophy Toss Moment

by Thad Mitchell

Earlier this year, Tom Brady and his Tampa Bay Buccaneers teammates became the 2021 NFL Super Bowl Champions.

It is nothing new Brady who must be running out of room in his trophy case by now. It was the legendary quarterback’s tenth appearance in the big game and his seventh Super Bowl win. Brady was sensational throughout the game, willing his team to a blowout win and collecting Most Valuable Player honors for his efforts. He threw for three touchdowns in the game, including two to his longtime favorite target, tight end Rob Gronkowski.

While Brady put on quite a show at the Super Bowl, people are now talking about his actions after the big game. During the championship celebration boat parade, the quarterback threw the Lombardi Trophy from one boat to another. The silver trophy landed safely in the hands of Tampa Bay tight end Cameron Brate but many are now wondering about the quarterback’s actions. If there is anyone in the world you want throwing an expensive trophy — it’s Tom Brady. Still, many found the All Pro’s actions to be irresponsible.

Tom Brady Pokes Fun at Himself Over Trophy Toss

Recently Brady poked fun at himself over the incident, calling it “the riskiest pass he threw all season.” He took to social media to post an “8-bit” version of himself tossing the trophy across a rather large body of water.

“Tom Brady is not creating 8-bit versions of himself throwing the Lombardi Trophy,” the tweet states. “Hundred percent chance he puts this logo on a t-shirt and makes billions.”

The 8-bit clip shows Brady, hat turned backwards, tossing the trophy from the boat he is occupying. He adds two laughing emojis and also gives Brate a shout out for the catch. Had the throw not been good, the trophy may have sank to the bottom of the body of water the parade was being held on.

All is well that ends well, as they say, and now Brady and the Bucs will get to enjoy the offseason as world champions. Though he is now 43-years-old, Brady shows no signs of slowing down any time soon. He and his team will soon gear up for another Super Bowl run next season and will be heavy favorites heading into the 2021 season.
