NFL announced on Sunday (September 12th) the first ejection of the 2021 season. Cleveland Browns player Ronnie Harrison was reportedly seen throat chopping one of the Kansas City Chief coaches.

According to CBS Sports, Harrison made a tackle on Kansas City Chief’s running back Clyde Edwards-Helaire near the sideline. As the Browns player made his return to the field, his foot grazed Edwards-Helaire on the ground and one of the Chief’s offensive lineman bumped him.

One of the Kansas City Chiefs’ assistant coaches then misinterpreted the situation and thought the Browns player intentionally stepping on the running back. The coach then pushed Harrison off. In response to the move, Harrison roughly shoved the coach. Barstool shares the entire situation in a video on Twitter. The caption reads, “First ejection of the NFL season.”

Kansas City sidelines received a penalty for unnecessary roughness. The penalty against the Chiefs had been rescinded upon further review, but then the Cleveland Browns player became the NFL’s first ejection of the 2021 season.

The Cleveland Browns kicked off at 4:30 p.m. at the Kansas City Chief’s Arrowhead Stadium. The Browns is currently leading the game 22-10.

NFL Fans Take to Twitter After Browns Player Ejection Call

Shortly after Harrison’s ejection from the game, NFL fans took to Twitter to share their thoughts about the player’s removal from the game. One fan wrote on the social media platform, “Harrison did nothing wrong, just retaliated to a shove from a coach of all people.”

Another Twitter user chimed in and stated, “Harrison was in the wrong. The coach shouldn’t touch opposing players. Pretty simple.”

Even Kansas City Chiefs fans were speaking out against the coach’s actions. “As a chiefs fan, that coach should get ejected as well. Sh–, I don’t think the Browns player should have even been ejected. Retaliated to getting pushed, perhaps a penalty. But ejection? Nahhh.”

“The coach pushes him first and he pushes the coach back. That doesn’t make any f—ing sense lmao,” a Twitter user goes on to add.

Is Baker Mayfield Thinking About Leaving the Cleveland?

Is well-known quarterback Baker Mayfield hinting he is considering leaving the Cleveland Browns? During a recent interview with AP News, Mayfield declares there is nowhere else he’d rather be than Cleveland.

“We’ve talked about it, [my wife] Emily and I,” the Browns quarterback admits. “It wouldn’t be the same if we lived in a city where they didn’t live, breathe and die football. That’s the atmosphere we want – and it’s here.”

Baker states he is ready to turn the Cleveland Browns franchise around, leaving its “Factory of Sadness” nickname behind. “When I say that my work ethic and mentality fits right in here, I genuinely mean that. If anybody’s going to turn that franchise around, it would be me.”

The Browns will be playing the Texans next Sunday (September 19th) and the Bears the Sunday after (September 26th).
