NFL’s Shannon Sharpe Says LeBron James Played a Huge Role in Joe Biden’s Victory

Former Denver Broncos tight end Shannon Sharpe says that NBA superstar LeBron James deserves credit for his role in Joe Biden’s presidential victory in the 2020 election.

“[LeBron James] and Stacey Abrams registered so many people to vote,” said Shannon. “It was him that said, ‘You know what? Open up these arenas and make them polling stations.’”

James and the entire NBA went on strike in August. In fact, all the players sat out amid the NBA playoffs as a sign of support for social justice issues.

However, the players met with league executives to work on a plan to continue the NBA playoffs. The players – led by James – negotiated a list of “actionable items” and in return, the playoffs continued. Thus, the two sides agreed to open NBA arenas for voting in the upcoming elections.

In addition, Sharpe highlighted James’ “More Than a Vote” organization as another significant factor during the 2020 election. The organization helped thousands of citizens register to vote. The Super Bowl champion emphasized how those newly registered voters may have turned the tide in major cities in battleground states.

“I’m sure [LeBron] had something to do with it because we registered the voting block,” Sharpe explained. “You look at what happened in Detroit, you look at what happened in Philadelphia, look at what happened in Atlanta, you look at what happened in Milwaukee.”

Sharpe Says Battleground State Communities “Should Eat First”

Sharpe goes on to say that Biden should be thankful to those battleground state’s communities that won him the election. Additionally, he says Biden should meet with their leaders first since they “delivered him the presidency.”

“Now, I don’t know what’s going to transpire, but when President Biden, when this thing is finally official, his first meeting should be with the leaders from those communities. They should eat first!” Sharpe exclaimed. “What can I do for those communities? That was his Moses. They delivered him the presidency.”

On Friday, James took to Twitter to share his pride in his community. The 4-time NBA champion specifically said he is proud of Black voters for coming through in the 2020 presidential election.

“Let’s go!!!!! Black voters came through…again,” James wrote. “Be proud as hell but do not stop! We must stay organized and keep working. We just tipping off. I promise you I’m here for y’all throughout!”
