Millions of football fans are tuning in to watch Super Bowl LV tonight (Sunday, Feb. 7). Among them, is rock legend Ozzy Osbourne.
He is also one of the faces you might see in the crowd during tonight’s game thanks to the cardboard cut-out bearing his image. The singer tweeted two photos of his cut-out around the start of the coverage of the game this evening.
“Got my seat for the game,” Osbourne posted along with the photos. “@NFL @The Checkdown #NFL #SuperBowl #GameDay.”
Fans of Ozzy Osbourne liked seeing the singer’s cardboard cut-out online. As of 8 p.m. Sunday night, his tweet had received more than 2,300 likes and had been retweeted more than 300 times.
“Should be doing the halftime show,” one fan tweeted in response to the singer. “Love ya, Oz. You’re the best,” another posted.
“Great to see Ozzy,” another fan who tweeted said. “And, still rocking them black nails! You go!” another reply stated.
According to an article on Insider.com, only 25,000 fans were permitted to attend Super Bowl LV due to the COVID-19 pandemic. To keep Raymond James Stadium in Tampa Bay from appearing empty, the league sold 30,000 cut-outs for $100 each. Fans could purchase them and they were placed in seats throughout the stadium.
Also, the cardboard “fans” were strategically placed throughout the stadium to help those who could attend the game as socially distanced from one another as possible, according to the article.
Ozzy Osbourne’s Dramatic Transformation Over the Course of His Iconic Career
The photo appearing on Ozzy Osbourne’s Super Bowl LV cardboard cut-out is a more recent image of the 72-year-old rockstar.
How did he look when he started his rock career all those decades ago? What about as the years went on? Or, when he became a famous reality television star? You can see several images of Ozzy Osbourne throughout the years here.
Osbourne is reportedly planning to resume touring during 2022.
Possibly one of the most famous – maybe infamous – incidents of the rockstar’s career was when he bit the head off a bat. He recently marked the 39th anniversary of that incident with a tweet and a plush toy bat with a removable head. It costs $40, if you’re interested in this “commemorative item.”
“The Ozzy Osbourne Plush Bat is a web exclusive. Bring the legendary moment in rock history to life with this soft toy Plush Bat, featuring the Ozzy Osbourne logo and a velcro detachable head,” said Osbourne’s website.
“Today marks the 39th anniversary since I bit a head off a f*cking bat! Celebrate with this commemorative plush with detachable head,” Osbourne posted on Twitter on Jan. 20, 2021. Check out the tweet below.
