Green Bay wide receiver Davante Adams really wants to go to Super Bowl LV – and not just for himself.
Citing a report by Ryan Wood of the Green Bay Press-Gazette, NBC Sports is reporting that Adams wants his Packers to get there for the team’s quarterback and leader Aaron Rodgers. It’s an accomplishment Rodgers “definitely deserves” thanks to his stellar career, according to Adams.
“I think we all want it as equally for ourselves, which ends up getting Aaron one in the end. But he definitely deserves it,” Adams said, according to Wood.
Getting to another Super Bowl would help make Rodgers’ case for being one of the greatest quarterbacks to ever play in the NFL, according to Adams. Rodgers was the MVP of Super Bowl XLV.
“It’s a tough thing, because you look at (Tom) Brady, and everybody wants to make that comparison forever. So it’s basically turned into a quarterback stat, a Super Bowl,” Davante Adams told Wood. “So if that’s what it’s going to be, then obviously we’re going to put as much as we can in ourselves to help him get there. And ultimately will relieve him of the Super Bowl being the one thing that’s keeping him from being the GOAT. Because in my mind, he’s the GOAT regardless of how many Super Bowls are won. But just for the world, just to shut them up, I guess we can go out there and get one for him.”
According to NBC Sports, Brady has won six Super Bowls. The 37-year-old Rodgers probably won’t win that many. However, winning Super Bowl LV would really help Rodgers make a case as one of the best quarterbacks in NFL history.
