Former golfer and digital media professional, Paige Spiranac, has long used her social media to share personal tips and stories.

Notably, Spiranac has helped her fans by discussing topics like anti-cyberbullying, women’s empowerment, body positivity, and inclusivity in sports.

Spiranac is the No. 1 most followed and interacted with personality in golf on social media. She has nearly 3 million followers on Instagram and nearly 400,000 on Twitter. Her feedback related to sports and non-sports related content gets large amounts of interactions on a daily basis.

She is also the host of her own podcast, “Playing A Round with Paige Renee,” which continuously is one of the top-ranked golf podcasts on the market.

Paige Spiranac Talks Anxiety

Today, Spiranac is again using her platform to spread an important message. This time, she opens up about her struggle with anxiety and her tips for coping with it.

She shares that social media often has a negative impact on her mental health. “It’s hard seeing people being more successful than you, happier than you, looking the way you want to look. My anxiety spirals when I start comparing myself to other people. Here’s what I do when I’m feeling anxious,” Spiranac wrote.

Her intention in sharing this personal tidbit is to in turn share with fans how she manages her anxiety. The social media personality shared her three main tips for coping with anxiety.

The first is that she uses a tincture to start her day. This is a concentrated herbal extract that comes from soaking things like bark, berries, and roots in alcohol or vinegar.

One of the many effects is thought to be a reduction in anxiety. When chamomile is used this could be particularly helpful. She wrote that “I honestly can’t go without it or else my anxiety is out of control.”

Spiranac’s second step is to “Take a second to stop and just breathe! When I’m anxious I start to speed up and my mind races so stopping and resetting really helps.’ Lastly, she said that boosting her confidence when her anxiety is bad can be really beneficial.

This means putting on a nice outfit and spending more time hyping herself up in general.

Opening up About Mental Health Issues

This is not the first time that Spiranac has opened up about mental health issues.

She has been open in the past about her experience with anxiety, bullying, and suicidal thoughts.

According to NZHerald, Spiranac had a dream to go to the Olympics when she was growing up. After she quit, she developed severe anxiety and her parents chose to homeschool her partially due to this. She uses her podcast to discuss her life in a more long-form way than her other social media platforms.

She opened up on her podcast about how she had a very different childhood. She was naive to sex and alcohol, had few friends her age, and was generally spending more time playing golf than doing anything else.

“I always seek people’s approval and I’m always never good enough. I’m always wanting to do everything I can for them,” Spiranac said.

She had once been competing to be a gymnast but found that the environment was particularly toxic for her. She then found her footing in golf where she still had difficulty forming bonds with other people. Eventually, she went off to college where the golfer said she had a “crazy party girl phase” and had become very depressed.

In her senior year of college, she had become very severely depressed and had suicidal thoughts. She shared that she “just didn’t want to deal with life anymore.” The golfer has since shared how she got past some of her darkest moments in life.

Now, Spiranac continues to talk about and explore how she best can best maintain her positive mental health. She has different methods and strategies, such as supplements or even diet and exercise, that has helped her get through it.
