Patrick Mahomes, Brittany Matthews’ Daughter Sterling Offered Letter of Intent to Texas Tech

by Emily Morgan

Patrick Mahomes and Brittany Mathews’ daughter is barely two weeks old, and she’s already received a letter of intent. Just two days after her parents welcomed her into the world, Texas Tech university sent Sterling a letter of intent for a soccer scholarship. Even though Sterling wouldn’t commit until sometime in 2039, the school wanted to get a head start.

TTU, the alma mater of her father, signed the letter of intent just two days after the couple met their daughter, as seen in a photo making its way around the internet. In the snap of the letter, you can see that it’s been signed by TTU Athletic Director Kirby Hocutt.

The letter also said the school would recommend Sterling for a soccer scholarship. While Sterling’s mom didn’t graduate from TTU, she did play soccer at the University of Texas at Tyler.

Matthews posted a picture of the letter on her Instagram, along with a personalized blanket and jersey sent from TTU. In the caption, she wrote, “She’s ready.””

“This is to certify that Sterling Skye Mahomes will be recommended by the Department of Intercollegiate Athletics at Texas Tech University to receive a soccer scholarship. Congratulations!” read the letter. Universities often send these letters to former students’ newborns and are “intended to be a cute gesture.”

Big Things Expected From Sterling Mahomes

We’ll have to wait a few years to see what Sterling decides, but there’s a good chance she’ll have athletic genes. Her father, known for his legendary arm, helped bring the Kansas City Chiefs to victory in this past Super Bowl. Her mom also has an athletic career. She played soccer in college and also played professionally in Iceland.

The family history of being athletic doesn’t stop there. Patrick Mahomes’ father also had a successful stint in the MLB as a pitcher. However, it will be challenging to match her father’s accomplishments. During his time at TTU, he clinched 93 touchdown passes in three years.
