Pittsburgh Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin commented Tuesday that the team’s next game is a trap.

Moreover, Tomlin says that the team needs to take every game seriously as they try to go 16-0. But perhaps his best comment comes at the expense of the Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger. Tomlin said: “We are not a Big Ten team playing a MAC opponent this week.”

Roethlisberger has two Super Bowl wins under his belt with Mike Tomlin at the helm fired back at his coach.

The joke seems to say Tomlin might need to prove something on the field to Roethlisberger. However, as the all-time winningest African-American coach in NFL history, it’s unlikely he needs to prove his prowess further.

Roethlisberger played for Miami University in college. The college in Oxford, Ohio, not in Miami, Florida. Miami University plays in the Mid-Atlantic Conference (MAC).

Roethlisberger did exceptionally well in his time at Miami. In just three seasons there, he threw for 10,829 yards and 84 touchdowns. Those numbers at the time were good enough for most in Miami football history.

Now, the quarterback only holds a few meager school records. Those include career passing touchdowns and total touchdowns, while also holding every single other quarterback relevant single-season record.

Consequently, Roethlisberger left before his senior season to play for the Pittsburgh Steelers. He was selected 11 overall in the 2004 draft.

Roethlisberger Stirs Up Steelers’ Fans, Social Media Users

His comments however, set Twitter on fire. Even the official Twitter account for MAC chimes in to acknowledge the tweet.

A simple #MACtion from the Twitter account shows they are in full support of Roethlisberger. William and Mary is certainly a lesser football school than Miami University.

Others joined in on the fun as well.

This user perfectly utilizes this gif to emphasize the Roethlisberger burn on Tomlin.

All in all, though, the team is playing exceptionally well as they look to take on the 1-8 Jacksonville Jaguars this week.
