Tiger Woods was 7 over par Sunday. Not for the round but on just one hole.

The reigning Masters champ hit into the water three times on the par 3 No. 12 at Augusta National to finish it with a score of 10. The Golf Channel said the septuple-bogey was the worst score he’s ever had on a single hole. The previous worst was in 1997.

Woods first hit into the water on his tee shot. The ball caught the green and rolled off into the water. He repeated that on his next shot. He shot over the green and into the bunker with the next shot. But it was a very difficult lie and Woods bladed it, sending the ball over the green and into the water. He was finally able to get it on the green with the next shot and two-putt for the 10.

Woods played well in the first round, turning in a 4-under 68, but a sore back ended up costing him Friday and Saturday, Uproxx said. He entered Sunday 11 shots behind the leader Dustin Johnson.

Compounding the bad showing on the 12th hole Sunday was the fact that it was where he turned it around last year, according to Golf.com. The site says it’s where Woods was able to gain footing to win the 2019 Masters Championship.

Social Media Jokes About Tiger Woods Shooting 7-over-par

Jack Nicklaus had complained about the course being too easy on Thursday. But as winds have picked up in later rounds, Augusta National has stiffened.

That fact was lost on social media as they mocked Tiger Woods for his bad showing Sunday. Many amateur golfers were excited to see a professional struggle like they would on that hole.
