For college football fans all over the country, this is a huge moment. The College Football Playoff Semifinal games take place this evening. It will include Georgia vs. Michigan and Alabama vs. Cincinnati. Both games figure to be a lot of fun. However, the game between the Dawgs and the Wolverines is the main event of the two semifinal games. It’s going to be a gigantic heavyweight fight between Kirby Smart and Jim Harbaugh. Pro wrestling legend Ric Flair is ready for this evening’s affair, as well. While some folks may have expected the Nature Boy to stay local and support Georgia, Flair is pulling for the Wolverines against the Dawgs.
Ric Flair took to his personal Twitter account where he wrote, “Sorry @KirbySmartUGA! You Should Have Shook My Hand On The Sidelines When I Was Standing Next To @HerschelWalker In Athens! Today, It’s All [email protected] Has Been Shaking My Hand Since 1989! GO BLUE! @UMichFootball”
Flair is going with the Wolverines because Kirby apparently did not shake Flair’s hand when he was standing next to another Georgia legend in Walker. Tough break for Kirby and the Bulldogs here.
Why Ric Flair Left WWE
Flair was a WWE legend and still remains one today. However, his decision to leave the company once again this year was one that caught a lot of folks off guard. Especially with his daughter Charlotte still in the fold. He said of his decision on Renee Paquette’s podcast, “What happened was I had a bunch of pending opportunities. So I had a bunch of things I was doing currently at the time that I signed my contract. They allowed those. Wendy was allowed to keep her shop, these are big things, I got to keep Cameo. A couple of deals kept coming along and I got to the point where I was asking them, I think I probably exhausted them asking not to grandfather me, but to let me do them. And then of course the answer was you can do them, maybe. And I just sat there and thought of what I was going to say to you today and how I can handle this.”
He wanted to spread his wings again and not just work for the WWE anymore. No animosity, he just wanted to pursue other opportunities.
He continued, “I just decided that I wanted to finally, which I did for 3 years, make a living not being under a wrestling table. I first worked for Vince’s father in 1976, I’ve known Vince since then, he saved me when I had a big to go around with WCW with a guy named Jim Heard.” The gratitude was still there.
He concluded, “I went up there in 1991 and stayed there for a year and a half. My first WrestleMania with Randy Savage, I had the greatest run of my life. The worst mistake I made was going back to WCW. But there is no animosity whatsoever. It’s just business. I wanted to try something and they had a different vision.”
