Scottie Pippen’s Firstborn Son Antron Pippen Dies at 33

In absolutely tragic news, it has come to light that NBA and Chicago Bulls legend Scottie Pippen’s son, Antron has died.

According to TMZ, Pippen revealed that Antron Pippen died on Sunday, April 18. He was 33-years-old. Antron was Pippen’s first-born child, who he had with his first wife Karen McCollum.

Per TMZ’s article, Pippen announced the news with the following statement.

“”I’m heartbroken to share that yesterday,” Scottie Pippen said. “I said goodbye to my firstborn son Antron. The two of us shared a love for basketball and we had countless conversations about the game.”

Further, Scottie Pippen added more testament to his son’s life through basketball.

“Antron suffered from chronic asthma and if he hadn’t had it,” Pippen said. “I truly believe he would’ve made it to the NBA. He never let that get him down, though — Antron stayed positive and worked hard, and I am so proud of the man that he became.”

Antron did play basketball in college, reportedly attending Texas A&M International University as well as South Georgia Technical College. The second school made a post in mourning of Antron Pippen.

“The Jets family was saddened to learn of the death of one of our former players, Antron Pippen. His family and friends are in our thoughts and prayers. Antron was a Jet during the 2006-2007 season. #Jetfamily #SGTCJets

The cause of death is not yet known for Antron Pippen. However, Scottie did send a message to fans asking to keep his ex-wife, Karen, in their thoughts and prayers.

“Please keep his mom, Karen, and all of his family and friends in your thoughts and prayers. A kind heart and beautiful soul gone way too soon. I love you, son, rest easy until we meet again.”
