Scottie Pippen’s Son Passes Away

According to TMZ and other outlets, Scottie Pippen’s son passed away on Sunday, April 18. Antron was Pippen’s oldest son, he shared with first wife Karen McCollum. Antron was 33-years-old at the time of his death. Pippen broke the news to the public about his son’s death in an emotional post.

“I’m heartbroken to share that yesterday,” Scottie Pippen said. “I said goodbye to my firstborn son Antron. The two of us shared a love for basketball and we had countless conversations about the game.”

Pippen chronicled the challenges that his son faced during his life. For one, the athlete experienced chronic asthma. But despite the disorder, Antron Pippen played basketball like his old man. He played college hoops for Texas A&M International University and also South Georgia Technical College.

“Antron suffered from chronic asthma,” Pippen said. “And if he hadn’t had it, I truly believe he would’ve made it to the NBA. He never let that get him down, though — Antron stayed positive and worked hard, and I am so proud of the man that he became.”

South Georgia Technical College released a tribute to the late athlete.

“The Jets family was saddened to learn of the death of one of our former players, Antron Pippen,” they wrote. “His family and friends are in our thoughts and prayers. Antron was a Jet during the 2006-2007 season.”

A cause of death still hasn’t been released. Previously, Scottie Pippen asked for fans to pray for him and his family during this difficult time as well as his first wife Karen.

“Please keep his mom, Karen, and all of his family and friends in your thoughts and prayers. A kind heart and beautiful soul gone way too soon. I love you, son, rest easy until we meet again.”
