Seattle Seahawks’ Russell Wilson Explains ‘Inside Joke’ Behind Awkward ‘Mr. Unlimited’ Video

by Chris Haney

On Wednesday, the guys from Barstool Sports’ Pardon My Take podcast welcomed Seattle Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson.

During their interview, they asked Wilson a question that countless fans have wondered for the last couple of years. Did the quarterback watch his alter ego video where he called himself “Mr. Unlimited,” and did he cringe like everyone else when he saw it?

Back in May 2018, Wilson posted a strange self-recorded video to his official Twitter account. The former Super Bowl champion tried to explain to his fans and followers that he had an alter ego called “Mr. Unlimited.”

“Everybody has to have an alter ego, right? And I’ve been thinking about what my alter ego would be. I think I have an alter ego,” Wilson says in the video. “His name’s Mr., Mr., Mr. Unlimmmmited. You gotta be unlimmmmited. You gotta have a thought process of being unlimited. So when people ask you what you’re thinking about, or what you want to do in life, or where you want to go, you gotta be unlimited! Tell them, I’m unlimited. You know what I mean?”

No, Russell. In fact, literally no one knows what you mean. But, thankfully Pardon My Take‘s host Dan Katz, also known as “Big Cat,” attempted to get to the bottom of the cringeworthy clip.

Wilson Says ‘Mr. Unlimited’ Is a Mentality

After the quarterback is asked if he too cringed watching his odd video, he said that he laughs at it. Additionally, Wilson tries to explain that the whole alter ego is an inside joke.

“No, I laugh actually at the fact that I did that,” Wilson jokes. “It’s a whole inside joke, you know?”

Katz doubled down and asked the Seahawks quarterback to further explain the awkward video. The host said they need answers, “because we watch it and we’re like, ‘whoa, what’s going on here Russ?'”

Wilson says it’s mainly a mentality thing. That in the midst of the NFL season, you’ve got to be able to have fun and joke around. However, you have to have a “killer instinct” as well, and he says that represents the other side of himself. In addition, he says that anything’s possible and he feels like he can overcome anything.

“That’s where ‘Mr. Unlimited’ comes from. It comes from this idea that no matter what it looks like, no matter what anybody says, you can’t waver. Even right now, we’re battling, (the Seahawks) are fighting for the playoffs. The mentality that you can overcome anything and be ready to roll each week. You gotta be unlimmmmited,” Wilson explains with a laugh.

Pardon My Take‘s second host, who goes by the nickname “PFT Commenter,” comes to Wilson’s defense. He said he loves “Mr. Unlimited” and shared an interesting theory on Wilson’s alter ego.

“Anybody that laughs at ‘Mr. Unlimited,’ they’re just telling on themselves for not being unlimited,” PFT explained. “I’m unlimited, and all the haters are limiting theirselves by saying they’re not unlimited. So kudos to you for that.”
